Giving a voice to learning 🎤
The Tavannes Secondary School, located in the canton of Bern, Switzerland, wanted to significantly improve the digital learning experience for its students and teachers. Equipped with Chromebooks for all students, the school aimed to fully leverage the technical capabilities of these devices to foster interactive and dynamic learning.
The main requirement was to design an intuitive web application that would allow students to record their voice in various educational contexts, including language lessons, oral exercises, and formative assessments.

The challenges behind educational innovation
Integration into the ecosystem
The solution had to be compatible with the existing Chromebook/Google Workspace ecosystem, thus ensuring a smooth and consistent user experience.
Ergonomics and accessibility
The application needed to be easy for young students to use, without requiring prior training. It had to be immediately intuitive and user-friendly, in order to encourage its adoption within the school.
Automation
Another challenge involved the automated management of the list of teachers receiving the recordings. The application had to ensure dynamic updates based on the current teachers at the institution, without manual intervention.
The solution of backtik
Our solution is a web application specifically optimized for Chromebooks, focused on an intuitive user experience through a clean interface. It integrates advanced audio recording features, direct authentication via Google Workspace, and automated management of recipients and recorded files.
No audio files are stored on the application itself; all recordings are sent directly to and saved on the school's secure storage, ensuring maximum data security.
